BOXBOROUGH – Chief Warren B. Ryder reports that Boxborough Police arrested a man Wednesday night on child enticement charges following an investigation.

SHAUN MICHAEL SHANLEY, AGE 35, OF BOXBOROUGH, is charged with:

  • Enticement for Sex with a Child Under 16
  • Dissemination of Obscenity to Minors

The charges stem from an investigation led by the Merrimack, New Hampshire Police Department into SHANLEY, which began in May when a Merrimack Police detective began communicating undercover with SHANLEY through a mobile social dating application called “SKOUT.”

Police identified SHANLEY following issuance of a search warrant for the phone numbers involved in the investigation. SHANLEY was interviewed at Boxborough Police Headquarters on Wednesday, July 8 and was subsequently arrested and charged.

SHANLEY was released on $340 bail pending arraignment in Ayer District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
