Easton Police Respond to Crash After Car Strikes Building

EASTON — Chief Gary Sullivan reports that the Easton Police Department responded to a crash where a car struck a building Friday afternoon.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., police responded to 2 Belmont St., where a Toyota RAV4 had crashed into the shared glass entryway of a Subway and Honey Dew Donuts.

Upon investigation, it was determined that a 16-year-old girl was driving the vehicle with her father in the front passenger’s seat. The 16-year-old has her learner’s permit and was practicing parking the vehicle.

The girl allegedly accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, causing the vehicle to go over a curb and into the glass entryway. No injuries were reported.

Both businesses will be closed for the day until repairs are made.

The building inspector and Easton Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The 16-year-old girl will not be cited or charged.
