Chelmsford Police Department Investigating Threat Made to High School Over Facebook

CHELMSFORD — Chief James Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department is investigating a threat made to Chelmsford High School via social media.

Earlier this morning, Chelmsford Police were notified of a threat that appeared on a woman’s Facebook profile, which stated that she would harm people at Chelmsford High School on Friday morning. Police have interviewed the woman who owns the account, and the Chelmsford Police Department does not believe that there is a serious threat to the community.  The incident mirrors a threat made in Waltham yesterday, and the language used in both threats is similar. The Facebook accounts in the Waltham and Chelmsford incidents appear to have been compromised by hackers.

The department is conducting a full investigation into the threat.
