Maynard Fire Department Quickly Extinguishes Fire on Brooks Street
MAYNARD – Chief Anthony Stowers reports that the Maynard Fire Department quickly extinguished a fire at a home on Brooks Street this morning.
At approximately 9:37 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the residence on a report of a fire in the attic. Upon arrival, first responders saw smoke and immediately began extinguishing the blaze.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire down in about 25 minutes.
The Stow Fire Department provided station coverage and assisted the Acton Fire Department with a medical emergency that occurred while Maynard firefighters were working the Brooks Street incident.
No one was injured. However, residents are currently unable to return the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but at this time, Chief Stowers believes it started in the kitchen area and extended into the attic.
“The first arriving companies did an excellent job of quickly extinguishing this fire and preventing any further damage to the home,” Chief Stowers said. “Thanks to the assistance from neighboring fire departments, our firefighters were able to focus their efforts on putting this fire out and avoiding injury to residents and our crew.”
