Maynard Fire Department Quickly Extinguishes Small Kitchen Fire
MAYNARD — Fire Chief Anthony Stowers reports that the Maynard Fire Department quickly extinguished a small kitchen fire at an apartment on Concord Street Circle last night just before 9 p.m.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at 8:53 p.m. within minutes of initial dispatch and found alarms sounding and the building being evacuated with a smoke condition in Unit 2A. Using fire extinguishers, crews from Maynard Engine 2 and Ladder 1 quickly extinguished the flames which were contained to the stove and adjacent area. They performed overhaul and cleared smoke from the affected apartment.
Fortunately, there were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians and no other units in the apartment building were affected. Currently, residents are unable to occupy the apartment and are staying with family. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
“Thanks to the quick response from the fire department, this fire was knocked down quickly without injury to residents or crew members,” Chief Stowers said. “Although this was a small fire, I am always proud of the speed and effectiveness of our firefighters.”
