Georgetown Police Officer Graduates from 3rd R.O.C. Academy Class in Plymouth
GEORGETOWN — Chief Donald Cudmore and the Georgetown Police Department are pleased to announce that Georgetown Police Officer Joanne Ballard graduated from the 3rd ROC Academy Class in Plymouth at a ceremony on Oct. 30 at Brockton High School.
Officer Ballard completed a 26-week training program before returning to the Georgetown Police Department where she will be assigned to a regular patrol shift. She has been with the department since 2004 as a reserve dispatcher, then a full-time dispatcher, and in 2006 was promoted to reserve police officer, then in May 2015 was promoted to a full-time patrolman.
“It has been wonderful watching Officer Ballard continue to grow and advance her career over the years,” Chief Cudmore said. “We are all so proud of her for taking this step in completing her training to become a full-time patrol officer with a regular patrol shift.”
This training program includes an intense basic training program for full-time entry-level municipal, University of Massachusetts, and Environmental Police officers. Reserve/Intermittent (part-time) police officers of municipal, University of Massachusetts, and Environmental Police can also receive a 310-hour (335 hours if armed) entry-level training program.
