Littleton Police Arrest Man for OUI, Re-Arrested the Following Day for Driving Without A License
LITTLETON — Chief Matthew J. King reports that the Littleton Police Department arrested a man on Thursday for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol. The man was then subsequently re-arrested on Friday for driving without a license.
DARIN HAMILTON, AGE 55, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK is charged with OUIL Liquor and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
On Thursday night, Littleton police received a report of an erratic 26-foot box truck passing vehicles while traveling East on Route 2A.
An officer located the truck near the Interstate 495 North ramp. The operator, identified as HAMILTON, was suspected of being intoxicated and placed under arrest. His license was automatically suspended in Massachusetts.
HAMILTON was then held on $10,000 cash bail pending his arraignment at Ayer District Court on Friday.
The owner of the box truck, Ramona Cato, also from New York, later came to pick up the vehicle, which had been towed from the scene.
After police released the truck, they received information that Cato was allowing HAMILTON to drive the vehicle. Police located the vehicle on Route 2A and observed that the operator was HAMILTON. He was then subsequently arrested for Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
HAMILTON is being held on $15,000 cash bail at the Littleton Police Department pending his arraignment on Monday morning at Ayer Distric Court.
“This suspect knowingly broke the law by getting behind the wheel while intoxicated and then with a suspended license,” Chief King said. “It’s disappointing to see that someone repeatedly acted with no regard for the safety of other motorists on the road.”
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
