Exeter Police Arrest Man for DWI After Serious Head-On Collision

EXETER — Chief Richard Kane reports that the Exeter Police Department arrested a man for Driving While Intoxicated last night after a head-on collision injured three high school students.

DANIEL RAINVILLE, AGE 44, OF AUBURN, N.H., is charged with DWI (Second Offense).

On Friday, just after 10 p.m., Exeter Police and Fire responded to Newfields Road for a report of a head-on collision.

Officers at the scene determined the operator of a 2011 Dodge Avenger, later identified as RAINVILLE, had crossed over a solid yellow line and crashed into an oncoming motor vehicle.

Inside the other vehicle were three 17-year-old females who attend Exeter High School. The driver and passenger seat occupant sustained injuries, but were treated and released from Exeter Hospital.

The teenager in the back seat of the car is currently being treated at Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries.

RAINVILLE was arrested at the scene and booked at the Exeter Police Department. He was released on $7,500 personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court at the 10th Circuit, District Division, in Brentwood on Oct. 6.

“This is a truly tragic incident that left three, young high school students injured due to the recklessness of one driver,” Chief Kane said. “This investigation is open and active and we ask that anyone who may have information on what occurred to contact the Exeter Police Department.”

Those with information on the crash are asked to call Sgt. Peter Tilton at 603-772-1212.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
