Chelmsford Police and Bedford VA Asking for Community Letters for Military Hospital Patients
CHELMSFORD — Police Chief James M. Spinney and the Chelmsford Police Department, along with the Bedford VA, are asking the community for help writing letters to patients at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Veterans will be traveling to D.C. in a few weeks to visit the largest and most renowned military medical center in the nation. They’re aiming to bring 5,000 supportive letters from Massachusetts to those recovering.
“We are hoping residents will want to be a part of this extremely honorable endeavor,” Chief Spinney said. “Your contributions don’t need to be fancy — just a well wish or words of encouragement will help brighten someone’s day.”
Officials are asking that citizens send their letters, drawings or notes to the Chelmsford Police Department by Sept. 12, as as delivery to the Bedford VA is scheduled for Sept. 14 at 7 a.m.
Submissions can be dropped off at the station or mailed to:
