Burlington Police Arrest Two In Connection With Overnight Car Break-Ins
BURLINGTON — Police Chief Michael Kent reports that the Burlington Police Department arrested two suspects in connection with numerous reports of car break-ins overnight at the Beacon Village and Avalon apartment complexes.
THOMAS CONTRINO, AGE 20, OF WOBURN and DEVIN D’AURIA, AGE 22, OF BURLINGTON are charged with:
- Receiving Stolen Property Over $250
- Attempt to Commit A Crime
CONTRINO is also charged with Unlicensed Operation of A Motor Vehicle.
Police received reports from numerous victims this morning that their vehicles were broken into Wednesday night and items were missing.
An employee at a local convenience store contacted police after observing two men throw credit cards and a wallet into the trash this morning. The employee was able to obtain a description of the vehicle and its registration number. The credit cards and wallet stolen from the vehicles were recovered from the trash.
Police were then advised to keep an eye out for the vehicle. Shortly after 8:30 a.m., Detective Gary Redfern located and stopped the vehicle on Center Street in the area of the Eaves Burlington apartment complex. Stolen property, credit cards and other items were located in the vehicle and both men inside were placed under arrest.
The two men are being held pending their arraignment at Woburn District Court. A third suspect has been identified but is not in custody at this time.
“The investigation is still very active and ongoing,” Chief Kent said. “We expect many more victims to come forward in this case.”
Police encourage anyone who lives at either complex to check their vehicles to see if they are missing property and to contact the Burlington Police Department at 781-272-1212.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
