SAUGUS — Town Manager Scott C. Crabtree and Police Chief Domenic J. DiMella are pleased to announce that the Town of Saugus and its Police Department has been awarded a generous grant that will be used to upgrade technology resources at the department.
The Town accepted a $29,578 Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant this week.
The grant will be used to replace two of the Police Department’s computer servers.
The Town of Saugus would like to acknowledge the assistance of State Senator Thomas McGee; Representative Roselee Vincent; and Representative Donald Wong.
“I want to commend Chief DiMella with his continued efforts in identifying and successfully securing grants for his department. As with many grants, the Town and department must show a need for the funding and provide evidence of good management. Grants like these free up taxpayer money to be used for other public safety needs for the residents of Saugus,” Town Manager Crabtree said.
“The Saugus Police Department is very grateful to receive this most generous Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant, and it will be used to ensure that the Saugus Police Department remains at the cutting edge of technology and public safety,” Chief DiMella said.
